Pat (mired in the midwest) D: ...LEHMAN doesn't matter, except to the shareholders...

It turns out that anyone with a pension fund, retirement fund, 401(k), etc, may be one of those shareholders.

Are you sure you aren't one of those shareholders? If not, you could have friends and family who are. You may think this "whole dustup" doesn't matter to you and middle America, but that will likely turn out not to be the case. YOU and yours, and nearly everyone, will end up paying for this episode of CRONY CAPITALISM. You, me, and others, just haven't yet received the whole bill. Or, to put it another way, the fan has not yet been completely hit with all the s**t the bush administration will be dumping on our country.

Pat (mired in the midwest) D: "Thats how capitalism works."

NOT in the bush administration. Take another look at this definition of CRONY CAPITALISM.

Pat (mired in the midwest) D: "When capitalism is allowed to work..."

That was last allowed in the Clinton Administration. Remember the DOT-COM BUBBLE? A lot of companies failed. The better one survived. The Internet grew continuously through all that creative destruction.

Then along came the bush administration and ENRON...
